Some people think that they cannot sell in the middle of winter or over the Christmas period but that is not so.
People are always looking for properties and some may argue that an open home in the first week of January may be more successful than usual as people are off work, more relaxed and looking to buy.
In winter a warm, well presented house may appeal to a buyer.
According to the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand (REINZ) https://www.reinz.co.nz/statistics there are fewer house sales in December and January, and there are more sales in November and March.
In essence people are buying houses whatever the season and recent New Zealand figures from the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand (REINZ) show that although the number of sales are lower in December and January compared to the rest of the year there are still a significant number of sales completed.
You need to take into account the public holidays and lesser number of open homes and listings. This could well work in your favour as there will be less competition in the selling market.
